Big value little cost DIY home improvements Part 2

Starting with  DIY re-decorating, painting and decorating  the rooms you need to upgrade is the best starting point for high-value low costs home improvements. If all need doing you can do them as one major effort, though it is much more manageable for busy people to tackle them over a period of time. It is marginally quicker and more efficient to do all the paintwork, then all the walls than taking one room at a time, especially if you are stripping wallpaper as you can clear the mess away and not walk it through the house.  After this there are other high impact but fairly cheap ways of improving your home
•    Curtains – Tasteful curtains with linings that help them hang properly, colour matched or contrasted with new decorating colours are a major plus. Curtains are quite easy to make yourself, or perhaps a member of your family has the sewing machine. Many fabric companies will arrange for your curtains to be made up if you can’t do it.
•    Upgrade your suite – If you can’t afford new furniture you can put purpose made boards under a sagging sofa or chair seat, and buy a throw to put over the less than wonderful upholstery. (Its always worth giving things a good clean first as you may discover a new-looking suite under the grime
•    Upgrade your floor covering – if your carpet is worn there are reasonable carpets for sale that won’t break the bank, and if you are good at DIY it is worth considering a new laminate floor as they are quite quick and easy to lay. At the simplest hire a carpet cleaner from your DIY store and be amazed at how your carpet is transformed.
